Learning with Understanding Poster

digital image of posterThis poster is the result of a combined effort of Center researchers to produce a dynamic portrait of the importance of teaching for understanding in mathematics and science. The text is based on research by Center staff. The poster was designed by Kristen Roderick and Linda Endlich in the Instructional Media Development Center of the School of Education. The brillant colors in this original digital version are nearly identical to the colors of the 22 X 34 print. Click here for information on how you can order a copy.

The text on the poster reads:

Understanding for Life: We will meet the future head-on if we all learn with understanding

  • linking ideas to one another in a rich, intricate web,
  • applying what we learn to answer questions,
  • reflecting on knowledge,

and expressing ideas in creative ways. With understanding, learning becomes personal. It lasts a lifetime.
